Rome in one day: visit by private car
This tour of Rome in a day is designed for those who wish to visit Rome in a relaxing way and have just a short time to. With our experienced driver Piero and myself, an official guide of Rome, you will do a guided tour of all the best of Rome, in the comfort of a modern car, relaxing and admiring the wonders which your private tour guide will show you and thoroughly explain.
With me and Piero, both born in Rome, you will experience Rome, the Eternal City, its people, its atmosphere, its habits, its lifestyle, its food and its famous monuments. This visit will be immersive: it will touch history, religion, art, archaeology and culture; and in years from now I’m sure you will still be looking back on it as on an unforgettable experience.
The car
For this excursion you’ll be safely driven by Piero in our comfortable and elegant, brand new, total black Mercedes Viano with air conditioning and tinted windows which can accommodate up to 6 of you.
Thanks to its special authorization our van has access to the city centre of Rome, and is allowed to use the lanes reserved for public transportation in order to skip the heavy urban traffic. It can drop us off very close to the sights and use parking places prohibited to other cars. The car can drive through narrow streets and show us all the corners out of mass circuits.
This Rome in a day tour by car has of course a lot of drop-offs and walks, too. How long these walks will be depends on you, and you can decide it during the tour. You will have the time to admire the venues, listen to my explanations, take pictures and…off to the next wonder!
Finally, don’t overlook the unique comfort of using a car with air conditioning and tinted windows to visit Rome during our long and hot Roman summer!
Rome in a Day: Tour Program
By car, we can enjoy the best views of Rome. We will see St. Peter’s dome framed by the world’s most famous key lock, from the top of one the so-called seven hills of Rome; the Roman Forum from the Capitol Hill; the entire city from the Janiculum Hill and the Colosseum from the Esquiline. This great view will give us the best framework for my stories about the Gladiators!
We will see the Colosseum, the Circus Maximus, the Palatine Hill, the Roman Forum and the Imperial Forums, and also the famous squares of Rome, such as Piazza di Spagna, Piazza San Pietro, Piazza Navona, Piazza Venezia, Piazza del Popolo, Capitol Hill Sq. and the monuments of the Baroque district, such as the Trevi Fountain, the Pantheon, the Spanish Steps, St. Angelo Castle, the busy Trastevere district, the Tiber Island and the Ghetto (the Jewish neighbourhood of Rome).
If, during the tour, you get a little peckish, never mind! We can stop and taste the typical street food of Rome: supplí, piazza, fried anchovies, tripe, artichokes, puntarelle, baccala (cod) filet, “gelato”, so to fully enjoy the visit and live a truly, complete and unforgettable experience of Rome.
Extension to the Vatican
This Rome in a Day tour is a 4-hour tour, doesn’t include any entrance (which means you’ll be looking at the sights from the outside) and normally finishes at around 1 pm; but you can extend it with the visit of the Sistine Chapel or St. Peter’s Basilica for 2 more hours of visit togheter. At the end, you can join the hotel by taxi.

4-hour tour costs of 399 € for up to 6 people. The fee includes the cost of the guide and the car with driver at your disposal for 4 hours. Tickets or food are not included.
6-hour tour cost of 499 € for up to 6 people. The fee includes the tour guide for 6 hours and the car with driver at your disposal for 4 hours. Tickets or food are not included.

We did the Full day tour, 10 highlights of Rome. Firstly, we did the tour at the colosseum, roman forum, Trevi, Campidoglio, forum of Trajan, and finished at Spagna. Ana Liza was lovely and give it a personal touch which we liked and we really enjoyed.
After that, we went to the Vatican, taking the roman subway only because our guide who knows well the system. We didn’t rush to get over there and we had even time make a break. We had lunch in fact, with an amazing tiramisu. Ana Liza propose us several dishes: pasta, pizza, gelato, but we chose tiramisu that was really unforgettable.
Other good thing was we could refill our water bottles throughout the day at public fountains. That day in fat, was a hot and dry day and there was a lot of walking. There was one toilet break during colosseum tour and two during the Vatican tour which is handy as it’s a full day tour. However, we had a great experience and would highly recommend.
